We treat a number of conditions:
The following are just a few examples:
- Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs)
- Tension Headaches
- Frozen Shoulder
- Sports Injuries
- Fibromyalgia
- Computer Related Injuries
- Whiplash
- Stress Release
… and much more.
We do not encourage tips as we are a medical clinic, not a spa. Furthermore, based on the College of Massage Therapy of BC bylaws, we do not accept any material gifts from our patients. Exceptions are non-material gifts made to the clinic in the form of candy, chocolate or other eatables as long as they are non-allergenic and they can be shared with all our patients. If material gifts are left behind without our knowledge they will be donated to local charities.
I am a Student Care patient, what happens now?
All student care patients who became patients of the clinic before the services were discontinued will be able to enjoy the student rates, provided that the following conditions are being met:
- The patient maintains their student status
- The patient maintains a regular treatment schedule (at least a treatment every two months)
- The patient does not miss ANY appointments, does not have any “no-shows” or last-minute cancellations as explained in our “Policies” section
- The patient does not have any outstanding balances on their account
Why did you Discontinue the Student Care Program?
Although we have attempted to help the student community by offering them reduced rate registered massage therapy services, too many students have missed or not shown up for their appointments. This behaviour resulted in heavy revenue losses for the therapists, but most importantly, the spaces could have been used for patients who desperately required medical attention.

An ICBC massage program is likely a good option to help you regain full mobility and reduce pain levels. Motor vehicle accidents are very common to the Lower Mainland. Many of our massage patients in downtown Vancouver are ICBC clients who have been in car accidents, and are looking for rehabilitation options, and very commonly, pain relief.
Although we do not bill ICBC directly, on occasion we do accept Direction to Pay from your lawyer (23% annual interest rates apply) or provide you with payment receipts, which you can turn into your ICBC adjuster.
Our RMTs would design a massage treatment plan for you based on the severity of your injury, which usually consists of 12-18 treatments spread out over 10-15 weeks. Our massage therapists will work with you and help you get back on track quickly by providing a series of stretching and exercise techniques that will drastically reduce your discomfort and mobility limitations.
Our rates are determined by following the guidelines provided by the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of British Columbia.
Step 1
To book a massage with one of our registered massage therapists, please click the “Book Appointment” button and choose the treatment’s duration, the registered massage therapist’s name and the treatment date and time.
Step 2
Our returning patients are required to use their existing email, which they have first used to register with our Davie Village Registered Massage Therapy. If you do not have an e-mail address, or if you would like to update your existing e-mail, please use the “Contact Us” form.
Step 3
All new patients of Davie Village Registered Massage Therapy are required to provide an email address of their choice. Your email address will only be used for treatment-related messages and reminders, and will not be shared with any marketing or third-party organizations. After an appointment has been scheduled, the system will send a confirmation e-mail.
Step 4
For all new patients, an intake form will be attached to the notification email, and the form can be filled online and submitted digitally through our secure booking system. Periodically, you will be asked, through our online system to update your medical information.
Step 5
Filling out the intake form before you come for the treatment will reduce the intake time and allow the therapist to spend more hands-on time with our patients.
Swedish Massage
A Swedish massage is one of the most well-known types of massage treatments among patients, especially those who were never exposed to massage therapy. It can vary from gentle and slow to more firm pressure, depending on the patient’s needs and the massage therapist’s style. A Swedish Massage uses five techniques to work the superficial layers of muscle: stroking, gliding, kneading, rhythmic tapping, and vibration. These five types of treatment techniques aim to improve circulation, increase flexibility, and relax the entire body as it targets not just the back, but the legs, arms, and neck as well.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy treatment involving the use of a moderate, more directed, pressure to treat the deeper layers including muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This treatment works by breaking down scar tissue and adhesions within or around the muscles to relieve pain and restore movement to troublesome areas.
Sports Massage
Sports Massages are not just for professional athletes, but for weekend joggers and recreational sports enthusiasts alike. The techniques used in a sports massage are unique and tailored to each patient based on their athletic activity. This allows for focus on specific areas of the body that are stressed or injured from repetitive motions and overuse. Sports massages are a beneficial part of a training regimen; they aid in preparing for an event, increasing endurance during and speeding up the recovery time post event.
Myofascial Release Massage
Myofascial release is a type of massage therapy that uses gentle sustained pressure to treat damage or restrictive tightness in a type of connective tissue known as ‘fascia.’ This technique provides pain relief and can restore motion by relaxing contracted muscles, which in turn stimulates the stretch reflex an improves both blood and lymphatic circulation. Myofascial massage will also help to realign the body and assist in restoring proper posture when used in combination with stretching and postural awareness
Joint Mobilization
Joint mobilization aims to reduce pain and regain movement to stiff, sore or locked joints using different techniques to target these various issues. These techniques can include, moving joints in specific directions and at different speeds, applying the joint against resistance, passive muscle movements and stretching techniques to return to a full range-of-motion and restore pain-free movement to joints and ligaments.
Pregnancy Massage
Also known as a prenatal massage, a pregnancy massage is a treatment designed for both new mothers and mothers-to-be here in Vancouver to relieve the aches, pains, and swelling that are often experienced while carrying a child as well as after. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy, different approaches and patient positioning are used to address your specific needs, concerns, and to ensure you are comfortable throughout the treatment. The most common method for a prenatal massage is to incorporate Swedish massage techniques since they are gentler, use lighter pressure, and increase overall muscle relaxation, one of the many benefits for those who are experiencing a lot of general discomfort pre or post delivery.
The Interview
The treatment process begins with a short 5-minute interview will be conducted for initial patients. For subsequent patients, this interview will be about 2 minutes to follow-up and re-assess the previous treatments’ effectiveness.
This interview process is critical for the RMT to determine the cause of the injury the best approaches to the problem, and therefore, offer the best possible treatment and home-care plan for the patient.
The Treatment
The hands-on treatment will take up the majority of the time and will consist of various treatment techniques based on the patient’s unique medical condition and information gained from the interview process.
A structured treatment plan that works well for both the therapist and the patient will be decided upon based on the severity of the issue. A regular schedule with the treatments closer together, in the beginning, is standard until the patient starts to recover and receive periodic maintenance work to prevent a reoccurrence of the original condition.
Home Care & Re-Assessment
Occasionally, a few minutes will be dedicated to demonstrating stretching and strengthening exercises, postural corrections, and reassessment of the original issue. Home care, like the interview, will take up a little more time for the initial treatment and less time for subsequent treatments.
The reassessments will assist the therapists and enable them to see how the patient is responding to the treatment. With this information, the therapists can make changes in any treatment plans or home-care given to the patient.
Last minute cancellations and not showing up to treatment.
Dear patients, please be courteous to other individuals who may be in pain or suffer from severe injuries and need an urgent massage treatment. We do understand that sometimes life gets in the way of things and you may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
If you do need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide sufficient notice, but not less than 24 hours (72 hours for Kyle Tarry). We will try to reschedule your appointment for the same week and with the same therapist, if schedule permits, so that you don’t miss your treatment.
You will, however, be charged the full fee for your session if you do not show up for your appointment or cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice (1 whole day, and 3 days for Kyle Tarry).
Failure to pay for missed appointments may result in you being unable to book future appointments with our clinic until your account has been paid in full.
